Anya is a contributing writer to Online Tech Tips and Help Desk Geek. Her educational background is in Journalism and Language Studies. She became serious about writing back in university, working for a local newspaper first in Russia, and then in the U.S.
After finishing her studies, she took on another writing job. This time in Cardiff, Wales. She worked as a sub-editor and reporter for an online magazine TheSprout. This included conducting reviews, writing opinion pieces, covering cultural events and reporting on a number of issues and topics. As a young journalist in Wales, she got involved in the Festival of Voice. She interviewed local and internationally acclaimed musicians and performers including Charlotte Church, a famous local celebrity. The interviews were used online as well as on Radio Platfform, a radio station based at Wales Millennium Centre.
In between writing gigs Anya worked as a freelance translator and interpreter. Then she moved on to travel blogs, writing advice pieces based on her own experience living a nomadic lifestyle.
In the end, becoming a full-time remote worker is what got Anya into tech writing. She wanted to share her knowledge on using modern technology to make life on the road easier. In 2016, she joined MakeUseOf as a Social Media and Entertainment writer. She never left the world of tech writing since. Always looking for new ways to make her life and location-independent lifestyle effortless, she hopes to share her experiences as a tech- and internet-addict through her writing.
Today, Anya is a freelance writer and digital nomad. When she's not writing, you can find her shredding fresh pow on a snowboard, or playing with a random dog she's never met before.
