Just to confirm (as we don't have AT&T over this side of the pond), you do use AT&T for email (not hotmail, googlemail, mobileme, yahoo etc).

If AT&T is your email provider this to me sounds like you aren't syncing to the cloud and just syncing between mac and phone.  If you go in to settings> mail,contacts,calendars> add account and see if you can add your AT&T email that way.  That might solve the problem.

So is there anything I can do?

I downloaded Open Office in order to open documents which were emailed to me.  I was able to use it for a couple of days, then it was just gone.  I downloaded Open Office again.  Used it for a couple of days.  I just received new updates this morning which re-booted my computer.  Open Office is now gone again.  Am I doing something wrong?  Is there something I should be doing to make Open Office stay in my mac?
